Outdoor Rink

The outdoor skating rink is open to the public in the winter months. The rink is setup in the early winter once the temperature is consistently low enough.

Our rink is maintained by a casual, on call member of the neighbourhood. Snow removal is performed periodically but community members are welcome to push snow to the sides of the rink if necessary. Shovels are available in the Community Centre during business hours if they are needed. Children under 12 years old are not permitted to borrow shovels without an adult. You are welcome to bring your own shovel if you are visiting outside of business hours.

Skates and helmets are available to borrow for anyone wishing to use the rink. Children 6 and under require an adult chaperone. We do not lend out equipment when the temperature is below -28C.

The upper level of the Community Centre main floor is safely accessible from the rink via a path of rubber mats. It is a warm, indoor space available during business hours for putting on skates and warming up. This is a public space and you are responsible for the safety of your personal property. Please don’t leave valuables unattended.

Luxton Community Centre has a canteen open on site during business hours where patrons can purchase candies, snacks, soft drinks, slush, hot drinks and some other food items.
